Destination Accessible From Mawlamyaing

Mawlamyine can be reached by car or by train and from Yangon, take approximately seven hours to reach there. A pleasant Strand road is a serene place to stroll watching the colonial buildings alongside the river. Being the 3rd largest city, it's also remarkable for the publishing of the 1st English Newspaper "The Moulmain Chronicle".
The Kyaik-thanlan pagoda was erected in 875 A.D. enshrining a hair relic of the Buddha together with the Tripitaka manuscripts and gold images of the Buddha. A big bell on the on the Pagoda Platform with a Mon inscription and also another bell with an English inscription dated 30th March 1885: " The famous English poet Rudyard Kipling wrote about Kyaik-tha-lan Pagoda in his poem "Mandalay" with the line: By the old Moulmein Pagoda, looking lazily at the sea".

Kyaikhtiyo (The Golden Rock)



A legendary miracle exists at Mon State, a merely 5 hours drive from Yangon.
Believed to enshrine a hair relic of Buddha, the spire of 18 feet is set atop a huge boulder where the latter is balanced on the edge of a cliff. A steep winding uphill path welcomes the pilgrims with a mocking challenge. Hotel accommodations can be arranged near the Pagoda Terrace.

Hpa – an



Capital of Kayin State and can be reached by car from Yangon across the Thanlwin River. Although a small town with wide lakes and lush islands, it is a busy commercial with hustling and bustling of horse carts or trishaws from where their pride, the Zwekabin Hill can be seen.

Kawgun cave 300 ft long and 200 ft, high can be visited near Kawgun village, two miles from Hpa-an. It is a natural lime stone cave with the surfaces having clay Buddha images and votive tablets.
